BRIGID´S origins & inspiration

Brigid Bags is sprung from a folkloristic tradition of making by the hand by using available material. Of creating beauty from what one has. For us, available material means leftover textiles used in other industries and by other craftsmen. We also use fabrics and material from residual stocks and decommissioned stores. This way, not only are we making small ecological footprint, we also follow our ancestors traditions of use and reuse. Not to waste but to make use of everything.
For instance we use old woven ribbons that has not been produced in a long time. This way, wearing a Brigid Bag is carrying on legacy and tradition. A universal tradition of creating beauty.
This watercolor painting shows the famous Swedish artist Karin Larsson. Here portrayed by her husband Carl Larsson ("My Wife" 1912).
